Google's Schmidt Wants Online Publishers to Become Non-Profits?

), Eric Schmidt complains “The internet is fast becoming a ‘cesspool’ where false information thrives…. [and] brands were increasingly important signals that content can be trusted.”

Meanwhile, in answer to questions about how publishers will afford to fund quality journalism — the natural path to building trust-worthy media brands — “he didn’t have an answer but one thing to look at is whether journalism should be a for-profit enterprise.”
