Makes sense. Their captivating player has everything to do with their top spot - the user gets sucked into the experience and with minimal but timely opportunities for ad placement. The placements themselves can be just as interactive as the video feature itself. Given this, agencies see this as a strategic extension of their TV buy and rake in additional GRPs at a much lower cost than compared to a network TV buy.

Watching tv episodes on ABC.com is terrible experience. The player allows for HD streaming, but the commercials are 200 pixel videos, why? The worst part is that the player doesn’t automatically resume after the ad, you have to “click to continue.” In fact, I was so annoyed that after watching multiple 30 second spots for Toyota and having click to continue watching Lost, that I thought less of the brand Toyota. Why must you click to continue ABC?
